Mporokoso

General Information

Mporokoso is in the North-Western Province of Zambia. It is situated about 75kms south-east of Lake Mweru Wantipa and 100km south-west of Lake Tanganyika.  Mporokoso is named after a senior chief of the Bemba people whose palace is also located in the town.  From the 2000 Zambian Census, the district had a population of 73,929 people.

A number of waterfalls lie within a 50km radius of Mporokoso. The closest is the Kapuma Falls, roughly 7km south-west of the town centre, the others are Pule Falls, Mumbuluma Falls and Lupupa Falls.
