General Information

Ndola, although being the 3rd largest city of Zambia has very few interesting tourist attractions.  Ndola and Kitwe are two towns that lie at the centre of the industrial Copperbelt region, and visitors to the Chimfunshi Wildlife Orphanage will pass through here.

From Lusaka there are daily buses that head to NdolaNdola can be the starting point of a tour of Zambia as it is home to an international airport. Ndola is situated just 10km from the border with DR Congo.

Ndola was founded in 1904, by John Edward "ChiripulaStephenson just six months after Livingstone, making it the second oldest colonial-era town of Zambia. It was started as a trading post, which laid its foundations as the administrative and trading centre that it is today.

Ndola is home to one of the country's national newspapers, the Times of Zambia, as well as its printer, Printpak. These run as one company called TimesPrintpak.  The Catholic Church run printing press, Mission Press, is also located in Ndola. Mission Press operates as a commercial body.

Ndola has massive limestone reserves, and is Zambia's sole producer of Lime, providing much of the wealth and employment in the area.  Lime is the major component in the production of cement.
